COVENTRY TWP.: The Summit County Sheriff’s Office and divers from the Akron Fire Department have ended their search for potential evidence in the Portage Lakes with no results.
Divers, acting on a tip, were sent Thursday to the North Reservoir and divers from the Summit Dive Team continued the effort Friday.
Inspector Bill Holland had said the tipster indicated bodies, stolen safes and weapons were in the water.
Bones, which the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office determined were not human, were discovered on a nearby island.
Holland, who called the investigation ongoing, said no further search is planned.
